Promo Video Editor – US Market (English/Hindi)
Product: FreeDrama (Kuku) Location: Mumbai preferred; remote can be considered depending on the candidate
About the Role
We’re looking for a high-intent, versatile Promo Video Editor to create performance-driven content for the US market.
We’re looking for someone with strong editing skills, storytelling instincts, creative taste and a sharp understanding of audience attention — someone who can take good footage and turn it into a promo people actually want to watch.
Understanding of microdramas / short-form drama is a must. This is a fast-paced startup, and there will be limited time for learning the fundamentals from scratch.
What we care about the most: your editing instincts, creative taste, speed, ownership and ability to figure shit out.
What You’ll Do
<ul>
<li>
Edit high-performing video promos for microdramas across formats.
</li>
<li>
Turn scripts, concepts and raw footage into sharp, engaging performance creatives.
</li>
<li>
Watch shows/episodes and identify the strongest scenes, reactions, conflicts, reveals and emotional moments to build promos around.
</li>
<li>
Make strong decisions around shot selection, pacing, sequencing, cuts, music, sound design, supers and visual storytelling.
</li>
<li>
Understand the creative intent behind a promo and execute it without needing every edit spelled out for you.
</li>
<li>
Work closely with Promo Producers to turn concepts and scripts into strong final videos.
</li>
<li>
Experiment with hooks, openings, pacing and scene combinations to improve the creative.
</li>
<li>
Use creative feedback and performance learnings to improve your next edit.
</li>
<li>
Maintain strong output and quality while working in a high-volume creative environment.
</li>
</ul>
What We’re Looking For
<ul>
<li>
1–4 years of experience across video editing, post-production, entertainment, content, social, advertising, microdrama or related fields.
</li>
<li>
Extremely strong editing instincts and visual storytelling taste.
</li>
<li>
Someone who understands different kinds of hooks and why they matter — how to grab attention, retain the audience, make them fucking feel something and leave them with no choice but to click.
</li>
<li>
Has an extremely strong sense of pacing and purpose — if even one second of a promo isn’t moving the story forward, it doesn’t belong there.
</li>
<li>
Strong understanding of audience attention, emotion and retention.
</li>
<li>
Good eye for shots, reactions, timing, music, sound and visual details that make a promo hit harder.
</li>
<li>
Fast, dependable and receptive to feedback.
</li>
<li>
Takes ownership of their work and solves problems instead of waiting to be spoon-fed.
</li>
<li>
Extremely results-biased. We talk less and do more.
</li>
<li>
Proficient with editing tools and comfortable learning new tools quickly, including AI tools.
</li>
<li>
Knows how to think outside the box — and, equally importantly, when not to.
</li>
<li>
Strong written and spoken English.
</li>
</ul>
Bonus Points
<ul>
<li>
Experience with microdrama platforms
</li>
<li>
Experience creating performance ads / paid social creatives
</li>
<li>
Experience editing for US audiences
</li>
<li>
Motion graphics / VFX skills
</li>
<li>
Experience with high-volume creative production
</li>
<li>
Experience with AI-assisted editing workflows
</li>
</ul>
Why Join KUKU
<ul>
<li>
Work on story-led content at scale, not generic brand videos.
</li>
<li>
Exposure to microdrama and short-form formats, one of the fastest-growing content categories globally.
</li>
<li>
Opportunity to work on English-market and international-facing creatives.
</li>
<li>
Collaborative environment with strong creative and data-driven feedback loops.
</li>
<li>
Clear growth path within the creative and growth teams.
</li>
</ul>
