<div><strong>Key Responsibility: </strong></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Ensuring that our flagship software products are powered by state-of-the-art science and methodologies.</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">The candidate will be responsible for implementing and refining analyses, including wind data analysis, wind resource assessments, site design, wake-modelling, and a range of intermediary analyses. Improvements in our analyses will need to be integrated into our codebase and fully validated.</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">The role is perfectly suited to a scientist or engineer who has a keen eye for detail, and a passion for progressing the state-of-the-art for wind farm design and development.</span></div><div><br></div><div><strong style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Description of Role:</strong></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Our vision as a company is to be world leading at designing and evaluating new wind farm sites. We are building a set of tools, approaches and processes that combine to form a capability to undertake the technical management of wind farm development at a significantly improved level of sophistication over existing standard industry approaches.</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">To achieve its aim, Wind Pioneers is powered by its own software, which we use as a proving ground for new, advanced approaches.</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">The role is a unique opportunity to be at the cutting edge of how wind farms are designed and development.</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">We require someone to drive improvements to our software through from the idea stage all the way to commercial deployment. This requires someone with a good understanding of scientific and engineering principles, who can implement new analytical approaches within our software stack prior to conducting full validation studies</span></div><div><br></div><div><strong style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Detailed Responsibilities:</strong></div><div><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">This is a unique and a challenging role that’s broadly classified into two subcategories:</span><strong style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);"> </strong></div><div><strong style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">&nbsp;Creating Scientific Services</strong></div><ul><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Identify and apply research findings to improve the accuracy and efficiency of wind resource assessment processes by integrating new technologies, methodologies, and data sources.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate research findings, tool developments, and project outcomes effectively. </span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Research and Development tasks</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Conduct Validation studies</span></li></ul><div><strong style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Software Engineering</strong></div><ul><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Supporting our development team in the development of high quality web applications for wind farm design</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">&nbsp;Data Engineering using technology like Postgres, BigQuery, Pub/Sub and Terraform, for architecting and building event-driven systems and data lakes, for geospatial among other data types.</span></li><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Scientific Services using mostly Python and (optional but not required) Rust, for developing and maintaining performance analysis tools for designing and optimising multi-GW scale wind farms.</span></li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">Candidate Requirements: </strong></div><ul><li>A passion for wind resource, and for the role renewable energy can play in mitigating climate change</li><li><span style="color: rgb(32, 31, 30);">A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline from a top-level school. PhD holders are also encouraged to apply.</span></li><li>Around 3-5 years of experience in the field and in a similar role.
